2008

Now open 9pm-6am

First a question. What are these people doing that they can no longer do?

Yes, smoking in the building. Ady was quick to point out that the new smoking laws have improved the conditions in the club greatly. Non smokers will tell you that the smell of stale cigarette smoke, not to mention fag burns in your best frock is a right pain in the arse. The new law means smokers have to go outside for a ciggy, and that's a bugger for Winston who has to whip up and down the stairs almost every third record played!

But partying and enjoying good soul music remains (for now), untouched by the authorities. Any 100 Club member will tell you that the pace is quick with Butch, Mick Smith et al knocking out the very best in rare soul grooves at a million decibels.

What about the old chestnut of overkill and too many venues? Ady dismissed this as piffle right away. 'Yes, I know there's lots of soul nights regionally, but that doesn't affect us in London. I think - the more the merrier and I believe there's room for more events in the capital. However, as in anything, you need to have quality and in soul terms, that means music.'

Last word to the main squeeze - Harboro Horace. 'We're delighted to be back at the 100 Club full time with the new user friendly hours. It means people who don't want to stay out all night can come along and enjoy the evening and there's no more hanging around until 1.30am to get in.'
