Is There Mrs Donnelly, And Is She A Soul Fan?

Yes, there is a Mrs Donnelly - her name is Kay, and thank god there is. She's my best friend and I'd be lost without her. She likes the Blackpool Mecca era stuff, Southside Movement - Do It To Me and Oscar Perry - I Got What You Need etc.

She comes to a few soul nights, but usually prefers to snuggle up on the sofa with a glass of Vimto and a king size bag of frazzles

What About Small Donnelly's, And What Do They Think Of Your Rare Soul Collection?

My son (22) likes some of it but my daughter (16) finds watching 50 year old men as she puts it "doing rollie pollies and hand stands" hilarious. As for the records, I used to play recordings of don't touch daddy's records while they were in the womb - and it's worked!

...and just in case you're the only person who hasn't heard...

"Velvelettes LIVE in Peterborough - Oh What A Night That Was "

You organised the recent Velvelettes appearance in Peterborough, how did that come about?

I was talking to Paddy Grady who set up the UK tour about a live act for Stephs recent Wirrina reunion. In the end Steph decided to go for Dean Parrish.

Then out of the blue Paddy phoned me about The Velvelettes suggesting we could do something together in Peterborough. As you can imagine, a group of such soul credentials and so popular in Northern Soul circles, I didn't need too much convincing.

Oh what a night that was - They were superb and hundreds of folks turned out. Huge hall, Motown records all night long and dancing into the small hours - great!
